G. Williker's ...

Do you remember the charming, boutique bookstore owned by Meg Ryan's character in "You've Got Mail"?

I loved that bookstore. It made me want to own a bookstore. It was charming and welcoming and successful. Well, until Fox Books showed up! :-)

For my birthday, my family took me on a little weekend trip to Hood River, a charming little town nestled in the shadow of Mt. Hood and situated right on the Columbia River. Gorgeous!

The downtown area is bursting with unique shops and hip restaurants ... including our family favorite - G. Williker's Toy Shoppe!

I've never been so taken with a toy shop. Every inch housed something new to look at ... toys we had never seen before at other stores. It was completely enchanting. It made me want to own a toy store.

We decided we needed to schedule a quarterly drive to Hood River, armed with a list of all upcoming birthdays and holidays, to purchase gifts from this hidden gem!

Have you made any fun discoveries lately?!

What a fun store! There's a little toy store in a historical section of town not far from me that reminds me of that. I've never been there, but I think I'll have to check it out.

Oh how I love little stores like that! (I too was envious of Meg Ryan's bookstore in that movie.) We've been snowbound so the only discoveries I've had are the assortment of odd items found in drawers my daughter was cleaning.

Oh Man I love Hood River!!! They grow the best cherries in the world. My husband and I bought a bag once many years ago on the way home to Vancouver practically ate the whole bag!!!

Nice hearing from you again! I have missed my blogging buddies!!

Oh by the way. . .I was raised on the other side of Mt Hood in a city called Sandy Oregon. Love the scenery there. . .but I am a blue sky warm weather kind of woman. I have that SAD thing so clouds really bother me. But you can't beat the landscape of the Northwest!

What a charming place to visit!

Fun discoveries: a hotel with the same name as my daughter... (a very unusual name too)!

There is a little toy shop in Coeur d'Alene, ID called Figpickel's that I couldn't help but think of as I read your post. We went there twice in a two day period and stayed quite awhile both times. http://www.figpickels.com/
Meg Ryan's bookstore had me dreaming of owning my own little book shop. :)
