Rock that Tiara!

Dictionary.com's Word of the Day today is fructuous \FRUHK-choo-uhs\, adjective: Fruitful; productive.

And, here, I will use it in a sentence:

I have not been terribly fructuous with my blog over the past week, because I am completely and hopelessly obsessed with all things related to the Olympics.

I was actually going to do a post about the Olympics this week ... truly, I was.

But, this hilarious Olympics-related post by Real Simple Managing Editor Kristin Van Ogtrop came across my e-mail the other day and it conveniently summed up pretty much everything I had been thinking (minus the Curling one ... with that, I'm more on the side of being thankful it isn't in prime time (sorry, Curling fans...)) ... it's titled "Those Times in Life When You Need Your Tiara"!

And to her list, I think I would add ... signing my first book contract! :-) Now, go and rock that tiara!

After working all day, making dinner, feeding the kids, cleaning up after dinner , vacuuming and mopping the entire house. And not strangling anyone. Tiara time!

I added the day I was offered literary representation. I should have kept it on all week!

Great post! : )

Great, fun links! Hmmmm, agreed on tiara at agent/contract time. Even though a tiara while giving birth does seem fitting, it also is somewhat comical because I was so disheveled, puffy, eye blood vessel popped during the birth of my first child, a tiara would have seemed sarcastic at the time! :)

Tiara time ... the day before school vacation (I'm a high school teacher). Yeah : ) ...

That article is hilarious. My question is, is there a time in your life where you DON'T need a tiara? I mean, come on! Life is way too short.

I'm afraid I'm not girly-girly enough to own a tiara BUT I do have one of those big foam Number 1 fingers that I'll wear when I'm ridiculously pleased with myself. Basically, when I wake up in the morning...:-)

Oh, how I'm getting a kick out of your comments!!! Thank you for stopping by, everyone!

You should seize the moment while it's here without guilt. Your obsession comes only once every 4 years. The blog will still be there in between.

do you by any chance sell tiaras?

and I'm obsessed with these Olympics, too. I think they are immaculately well done.

This is hysterical and so was the article. I'm linking it too! I remember when Julia donned her tiara I was like what's with her??? And then I thought, why not!

So yes, donning it after you sign on with an agent, sell your book to a publisher, sell the book to a movie producer, viewing your movie on the big screen... yes to all of that but I'd like to also add this practicle time as well...

Have you ever done ALL the laundry in the house - I mean ALL of it. There is not one stitch of dirty laundry anywhere but what you and your family are wearing. THAT is a tiara donning time too!

And yes, I do wish I knew about this after giving birth both times. That would have been quite the look while nursing the baby too!

Yes, they've been keeping me away too. :)

The Olympic are a wonderful distraction from the snow storms that keep coming.
And I agree, the curling, not so much

Aren't the Olympics great? We have a set of tiaras at work and break them out for birthdays, promotions, etc. We should have more opportunities for wearing them, IMHO.

I definitely need a tiara. Definitely... for no other reason that it will make my colleagues smack their jaws on their desks ;))

I hear ya! I have also been obsessed with all things Olympics. Now that they're over, I'm going to have this sense of "what do I do with myself at 8 pm now, NBC?! What do I do!" But there will be more time to write now that I'm not glued to the screen :)

I love that list. I say we all head to the party store and buy a tiara to have on hand.
And I'll add scrubbing toilets to the list. Yuck.
